Imperativ — Sie-, du- und ihr-Form [PEDAGOGY-REWRITE]

The imperative (command form) exists in three forms at A1: • Sie-Imperativ (formal): use the regular Sie-conjugation with the verb first. 'Kommen Sie bitte herein!' This is highest-frequency in formal contexts and exam exercises. • du-Imperativ (informal singular): take the verb stem and drop the -st ending. Regular verbs: 'Lern!' / 'Komm!' / 'Hör zu!'. Verbs with e→i or e→ie vowel change in the present keep that change: sprechen → 'Sprich!', lesen → 'Lies!', essen → 'Iss!'. Verbs with a→ä do NOT change in the du-imperative: fahren → 'Fahr!' (not 'Fähr!'). • ihr-Imperativ (informal plural): use the ihr-conjugation without the word 'ihr'. 'Kommt bitte!' / 'Esst euer Brot!' / 'Lest den Text!' All three forms can add 'bitte' to soften the command.
